Miniature Pugs
Just When You Thought Dogs Couldn't Get Cuter - Miniature Pugs Are Introduced
It would be difficult to find dogs much cuter than miniature pugs. They are considered a toy breed and until they move, there's a good chance you could mistake one as a stuffed animal.
Although the American Kennel club does not officially recognize Miniature Pugs as a breed, there is a dog that goes by this name resulting in a mix of a Pug and a Chihuahua. These little creatures primarily take the characteristics of a Pug, except its snout is a tiny bit longer and they will weigh around three pounds when it is fully grown.
If you plan on breeding a Pug and a Chihuahua, you should know, it is not without its downfalls. Obviously, the dog can never be recognized as a breed but also, there could be health risks. Most Chihuahuas have to give birth by a Cesarean section which can pose a bit of a health risk, however, if both the parental Pug and Chihuahua are healthy and the delivery goes smooth, then the puppies should be just be fine.
Because Miniature Pugs are so incredibly tiny, they are extremely fragile, especially as a puppy. These little puppies must be handled with extra special care. When you have your Miniature Pugs in the car with you, they must be in some kind of carrier or restraint. They can become very damaged if you hit your brakes too quickly and they fall out of the seat onto the floor. When walking around the house, it is recommended that you slide your feet, not step normally. Miniature Pugs can become crushed and broken very easily. These toy dogs are not recommended for households that have larger dogs for obvious reasons and if you have small children, they must be taught to be very gentle with them.
It is never recommended that Miniature Pugs sleep in your bed with you. Not only can you roll over and crush them or knock them out of bed, they can also suffocate from heavy blankets.
Miniature Pugs will also take some patience when house-training. They are very tiny and will not be able to hold it very long so they will require to go outside often. If it is wet outside from rain or snow you must take extra care to dry their feet and stomachs off upon coming inside so they don't get a chill. If your dog is going to be outside for more than a couple minutes in the cold then warm dog clothing is highly recommended.
Miniature Pugs, just like full size Pugs will have some sort of breathing problem. However, many of their issues that may alarm you are considered normal for the breed. These dogs will always snore, even though they're tiny and delicate, there will be some sort of noise coming from that snout. In addition to this, they will make snorting noises that could sound like a wheeze, gasp or even a grunt and occasionally take a very big breath that may sound like they are struggling to breathe. When Pugs get hot they have a hard time breathing because it strains their respiratory system. So, although you don't want your Miniature Pugs cold, you also don't want them getting hot either.
It is also important to keep Miniature Pugs clean. Keep their mouths dry so bacteria doesn't grow and clean their ears about once a week. Their eyes get gooey and need to be wiped and even though there's not much too them, a good brushing while you're watching television is necessary.
This perfect little creature will need a lot of extra love and daily care but they're so cute it hardly seems like work. Be sure to get Miniature Pugs from reputable breeders to assure a healthy puppy.
